Eight times French Open champion and World No. 1, Rafa Nadal powered past Serbian underdog Dusan Lajovic 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 to set up quarter-final with David Ferrer, in a repeat of last year's final. The two men met in last year's final where Nadal allowed Ferrer just eight games. Nadal also holds a 21-6 advantage over Ferrer in their career meetings but it was his compatriot who won their most recent clash in the Monte Carlo quarter-finals in April.
Against Lajovic, Nadal barely had to get out of second gear to record a supremely comfortable 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 win over his 83rd ranked opponent. The 27-year-old Spaniard took only 93 minutes to oust the Serb, losing just 33 points. Lajovic did not help his cause as he coughed up 43 unforced errors. Watched by US rock star Prince, who played a concert in the French capital on Sunday night, Nadal, seeking to become the first man to win five French Opens in a row, needed just 93 minutes to go through to a last-eight showdown with compatriot David Ferrer.
