World No. 2 Novak Djokovic has signaled his intention to end Rafa Nadal's reign at Roland Garros after destroying local favourite, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-1 6-4 6-1 on Sunday to reach the quarter-finals. He will next face Canadian eighth seed Milos Raonic with a dream final against Nadal loom large in the horizon. French Open is the only grand slam title that has eluded the Serbian so far while Rafa Nadal has won 8 out of 9 last French Open titles, with his only defeat at the famous red clay in Paris was against Robin Soderling back in 2009 quater-finals. Could this be Novak's year?
Djokovic and Tsonga have met at the French Open before. In 2012, Djokovic needed five sets to see off Tsonga in the quarter-finals. Therefore there are some anticipation from the crowd for a good rematch between the two. However, to the disappointment of Tsonga's fan and the neutral, of course, the Frenchman failed to turn up. Novak Djokovic was never troubled by the 13th-seeded Tsonga, who suffered an embarrassing defeat in 89 minutes just one year after making it to the last four in Paris.
"The performance was great from the start till the end. I came with the exact level of intensity that I was looking for before the start of the match," said Djokovic, who converted seven of nine break points.
