Meet the new 'fox in the box' - James Wilson, 18-year-old striker born in Staffordshire.
Wilson signed professionally for United on his 17th birthday on 2012
and last night made his first team debut under interim manager, Ryan
Giggs. He didn't disappoint his manager. In fact he really made Giggs
proud by scoring two goals against Hull City. Along with another
debutant, Tom Lawrence and Adnan Januzaj, they make sure that there are
future at Manchester United after disastrous season under
Moyes' regime. This is class of '14 and Wilson will be part of it,
unless of course if the incoming boss, Louis van Gaal has other idea.
United
fans may recognise this youngster after he was selected on the bench by
Moyes for the club's Premier League clash against Newcastle in April as
both Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie were missing. Wilson didn't get
on the pitch, but his surprise selection was a promising sign of how
well thought of he is at the club. Speaking of the youngster after the game, Giggs said: 'It's
always been the way at United, to give young players a chance. He's a
good player. He's exciting and he's trained with us the last couple of
days and not looked out of place.'
